1. How are you feeling after your win?
Amazing, It’s a feeling like no other. When the results came out I was so pumped.
2. Tell us about the event site and how the days went down for you?
The event was so good. The competition was run alongside with the leisure games so the crowd was large and everything was perfect. Qualifying day was perfect conditions and I came out on top of my heat making it into the semis. The next day was semis and once again the conditions were perfect and I came out on top again. The next day we had a day of for the boys division so I watched my fellow team mates kill it. Finals day the wind decided to pick up and made it very challenging. I went out did my pass and rode back to the dock with no falls. The results came out and I was over the moon.
3. What’s the wake board scene like in Korea?
Korea is surprisingly good. Driving past the rivers there are people riding behind outboards just having fun. But the Korean team was awesome.
4. What training and preparation did you do leading up to the competition?
Just riding non stop and going to the gym a bit. It was good.
5. Have you competed against most of the athletes before?
Only one, Parker Siegele from Australia who got third. All the other riders were from other countries like Italy and Sweden.
6. Do you get nervous before competition? and do you have any rituals you do before competing.
I try not to be even though sometimes I do. I just try to relax and think about the competion.
7. Who else was apart of the Australian Team and how did they do?
There was a team of eight Sam Thomson ( Open men 6th ) , Bec Gange ( Open woman 6th ) , Luke Matson ( Masters 1st ) , Jacob Hore ( Jrn men’s 3rd ) ,
Ryleigh Pfitzner ( Jrn men’s 2nd ) Caity Blauuw ( Jrn women 3rd ) , Parker Siegele ( Jrn Boys 3rd ) Australia won the team trophy overall.
8. What’s it like representing your country?
Awesome, being paraded in the opening ceremony and standing on the podium with the national anthem playing and the flag behind you is an amazing feeling. And then standing on the team podium with the winning Team it’s unreal.
9. What’s the plans for summer?
This season I really want to get a heap of new tricks and hopefully compete against the pros in the Australian Pro Tour. That would be awesome.
I Just want to Thank everyone who has supported me. Mum, my Little Brother and Dad!!, Askew’s, Clifford’s and Langfields. My sponsors Paulie and Mick from Liquid Force, Darren and Chris from Jetpilot and Perko from BoardM.
