Big Spin Sends Hansen to Pro Wakeskate Finals
Sparks, Nev. – For the second day in a row, 20-year-old professional wakeskater Reed Hansen was willing to put his national title on the line to push the limits of his sport. The Florida native capped off his semifinal run today, as he did in the quarterfinals at the 2010 Air Nautique WWA National Championships, presented by ROCKSTAR, with a trick he’s only landed once prior to this weekend’s contest – a Switch Mute 360 Big Spin.
“I’ve only landed that trick once before and that was like two years ago,” said Hansen. “So to land it twice in the same contest is pretty insane. I’m Stoked!”
Hansen’s Big Spin helped push the defending national champ to the top of his semifinal heat and onto tomorrow’s finals. Hansen will face off against Grant Roberts and former national champs Brian Grubb and Stuart Shinn in the four-man final.
“It’s going to be a tough final, but a lot of fun to watch,” said Hansen. “I enjoy defending titles, so we’ll see what tomorrow brings.”
Hansen enters the Pro Wakeskate division finals as the top-seeded rider of the contest.
The Air Nautique WWA Wakeboard Nationals, presented by ROCKSTAR will wrap up tomorrow, July 18, with the ticketed event running from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $10 (general admission), $5 (ages 6-12) or free (ages 5 and under).
In addition to all the action on the water; on land, spectators will enjoy great food and music; athlete autograph signings; chances to win freebies; and shopping at the most cutting-edge stores for water-sports equipment including boats, wakeboards, wakeskates, sunglasses and the latest in wakeboarding and surfing fashions.
