For a professional wakeboarder one of the most exciting and honerable things is to have your own pro model board. In the coming season of 2010 the ozzie contingent of pro model boards has never been stronger. This week we caught up with Jeff Weatherall to see what he had to say about his board "The Brigade" by Jstar.
Q: What does it mean to you to have pro model board?
Having a pro model board is such an honour.
To have a company beleive in your riding and want to put your name on equipment is a big deal and I know any rider coming up strives for this kind of recognition. It makes you feel like youve done right in the sport and that your making it...
Q: What is so good about your board this year?
This years board features a flat top deck, rolled up rails so they last on the rails and a new heat sensitive graphic, meaning when its cold its straight black on the top and when it heats up the graphic comes through on the board.
This is such a fun board to ride on rails. With alot of concave from rail to rail and the rolled up edges, it makes for a super fast sliding board that last a long time even for all the cable shredders that smash rails all day long...!
Q: How much input did you have in the design and making of the board?
At JStar we have complete input as far as graphics and design and ride of the board goes. It is a process that does involve a lot of people and a fair bit of input and thought by key people within our company.
But at the end of the day if we dont like something, then it doenst fly!
Q: What did you want achieve most with the shape of the board?
With my boards I have always wanted a shape that anyone from beginner to pro can ride and love right from the very first ride. Graphics are very important also. When a customer walks into a shop and looks at a wall full of boards 99% of the time they will buy based on what graphics they love the most... So it has to appeal in a visual sense to the rider and there style.
